Guarulhos has been, and continues to be, a stage for various initiatives to promote cinema, including events, screenings, and film festivals that help filmmakers present their work on the big screen.
However, there was a need for an event to bring local directors and producers together with others from Brazil and the world, to discuss and share their creative processes and foster integration for future cooperation and international co-production projects.
Thus, the GRU Film Awards was born, an event that aims to become a future tradition and definitively place the city on the map of Brazil's major film festivals.
